Although the “social Tuesday” league had been held for about 30 years, and folks look forward to the NAGVA tournament in DC every year, both were separate events organized by different people. Capital City Volleyball (CCV) was formally created in April 2011, aligning both of these events and providing additional opportunities.

In early 2015, CCV evolved into DCPVL, which took LGBTQ volleyball in the DC metropolitan area one step further. A team effort secured a venue, which provides social and skill-building opportunities for beginners and seasoned players alike, as well as a competitive league grouped by skill level.
